Obamerika
It was fashionable among leftist revolutionaries in the 1960s to label our country "Amerika," the German spelling meant to recall Adolf Hitler and indicate that the United States was a "fascist" state. With the dramatic shift toward government takeover of the private sector and the attendant diminishing of constitutional rights being instituted by our new president's administration, it might be time to take a page from the left's playbook and ask, "Are we now living in Obamerika?"

Did We Elect a Beta Male As President?
We're all somewhat familiar with the body language dogs display when they greet each other. The dominant alpha male approaches directly, asserting his authority, while the beta male genuflects, crouches, tucks his tail, and may even end up on his back, exposing his neck in acquiescence, making sure the alpha male knows he has no intention of challenging him. With his "we will extend a hand if you are willing to unclench your fist" opening to the world's dictators, the president is exhibiting classic beta male behavior, in essence rolling over on his back and exposing his throat to them to make sure they know he has no intention of challenging their authority.

B-O Fiddles While the World Burns
President Obama has declared by his actions that such initiatives as radically reforming America's health care system, dramatically reducing our so-called "greenhouse gas" emissions, closing Club Gitmo, and lobbying for Chicago to host the 2016 Olympic Games are at the top of his priority list. In the meantime, he temporizes on a decision about troop levels in Afghanistan, despite the fact that American soldiers are increasingly at risk in that unstable war zone, and he falls back on a strategy that has proven to be a non-starter with Iran while that country comes rapidly closer to having the capability, not only to attack our ally Israel with nuclear weapons but to shoot down Israeli warplanes in the event of their launching a pre-emptive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities.

"Step Off, Barack!"
Barack Obama has bowed down in obeisance to Saudi King Abdullah. He's delighted Vladimir Putin and Mahmoud Ahmadinehad by throwing our Eastern European allies under the bus when he caved in to Russia's demands that we scrap the long-range missile defense system. And his FCC "diversity" czar, Mark Lloyd, has all but awarded the medal of freedom to Hugo Chavez. Despite this, like George Costanza - who in one "Seinfeld" episode tried his damnedest to ingratiate himself with Elaine's adventurer boyfriend, Tony - all Obama has gotten in return for his spineless pandering is a resounding, "Step off!"

Obama's Slow-Genocide Health Care Initiative
One of the aspects of Obama's proposed overhaul of our health care system that has not been brought to light has to do with the fundamental reason why he wants the state to decide when to deny health care to seniors, and it has nothing to do with saving money. The reason is much more insidious than that. The President and his agenda-driven leftist cohorts need a way to thin the ranks of a group of voters who are adamantly opposed to his agenda, and the best way to do that is to kill them off over time by denying them the health care that might keep them alive. And the best way to do that is to appoint government agents to "consult" with seniors about end-of-life decisions and, ultimately, to decide who is eligible (or not eligible) to receive life-extending therapy.

ABC To Cancel Further Episodes of Obama Show?
ABC executives are reported to be considering cancelling "The Barack Obama Show" after its pilot episode, which aired in mid-June, garnered a dismal 1.2 in the ratings war. The premiere of NBC's "The Philanthropist," one of the network shows against which Obama's "special" was competing, garnered a 2.0, while a rerun of "CSI:NY," whose star, Gary Sinise, is a strong conservative, grabbed a respectable 1.8.

When Tax-and_Spend Becomes Confiscate-and-Squander
To call the current gang that has commandeered Washington D.C. tax-and-spend Democrats is to insult tax-and-spend Democrats everywhere. "If only," is a phrase I'm hearing more and more, as in "If only Tax-and-Spend were all we had to deal with." What the Obama adminstration is doing is much more accurately described as Confiscate-and-Squander.

As compelling as her overt racism and her record of having had 60% of her decisions reversed on appeal are as reasons for Sonia Sotomayor's disqualification from consideration as a Supreme Court judge, there's one that is even more troubling, and that is that she seems to have emerged directly out of one of the leftist "bibles" of the 1930s. I'm speaking of the book Toward Soviet America by communist labor leader William Z. Foster.

Russia Redux
It's time for us to take the lessons of history seriously, and to recognize that we're in the clutches of an administration whose bending of the law and science to its own ends parallels those of one of the most murderous tyrants this planet has ever known, a despot in whose footsteps Barack Obama seems to be hellbent on following.

Party Of One

The good news is that he's going to put the full faith and credit of the United States behind the warranty on your Malibu.

Spare Change We Can Believe In
The stimulus plan is "shovel-ready" in the same way the stalls in a horse barn are shovel-ready. The bill badly needed to be mucked out before it came up for a vote, but nobody seemed to want to do the responsible thing and even so much as read it, let alone clean it up, before they approved it.

What Liberalism Is Not
Most of us have wrongly concluded that Liberalism is nothing more than a fundamentalist religion, a rigid set of beliefs its adherents follow blindly in their ongoing attempts to eliminate other groups of people who do not share their ideology. But while in one of its guises liberalism is certainly a religion, it is much more than that. Because Barack Obama let the bill get out of his control, he faces the political equivalent of mutiny by his own party.

Reasserting Conservative Principles
It's not necessarily the case that conservatives have abandoned the principles we know in our minds and hearts we must uphold if our country is to regain its moral and political footing. What has been missing, though, is leadership below the Presidential level that recognizes the ever-present need for us to mount a principled opposition against the impending "state creep" that threatens our own democracy and democracies around the world.
