Responsibly sourced products and ingredients

Coles is committed to using independent and internationally recognised certification programs for our Coles Own Brand tea and coffee, and where cocoa and palm oil are used as an ingredient in Coles Own Brand products. These programs support ethical practices and environmental protection in these supply chains.

Sustainable Palm Oil

Coles’ Palm Oil Policy outlines our commitment to support the production of sustainable palm oil through the use of sustainable palm oil and palm derivatives.

We are a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and have embraced its principles and criteria for sustainable palm oil production.

Certified coffee and cocoa

We use independent certification programs, such as Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance/UTZ, when sourcing coffee and cocoa to provide confidence that these commodities have been sourced ethically and sustainably. All Coles Own Brand coffee, solid block chocolate, Easter eggs and cocoa powder are certified.

Sustainable timber & paper

Customer receipts at all Coles supermarkets, Coles Express sites and Coles Liquor stores are certified to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Standard and all Coles Own Brand tissue products are made from FSC or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certified fibre.
