We have the ambition to become Australia's most sustainable supermarket.
As one of Australia’s leading companies we need to show the way forward. By acting together now, we can create a better Australia for future generations. As part of this ambition, we launched our Sustainability Strategy under two pillars ‘Together to Zero’ and ‘Better Together’.
This year we made good progress against our sustainability focus areas of Together to Zero and Better Together, but we know there’s more work to do.
Coles is committed to acting on the issues that matter most to our stakeholders such as climate change, packaging and waste, single-use plastics, animal welfare, health and nutrition and farming and supplier partnerships.
Below is a snapshot of our FY22 sustainability achievements. For further details on our performance, view our 2022 Sustainability Report .
The Together to Zero and Better Together original artwork design was created by Bundjalung/Biripi artist Nikita Ridgeway of Boss Lady Design and Communication©.
The dots, as used in the art of Northern Aboriginal Australian people, reflect the notion of community with many different groups circling around a larger collective goal. The cross-hatching designs, as used in the art of Southern Aboriginal Australian people, represent the weaving technique used to create tools to hunt and gather food. Combined they represent the importance of working together to protect and sustain life.
